Hotel Regina Grindelwald, BE

A new life for the old lady of Grindelwald

A key issue for the interior design of the hotel Grand Regina is the differentiation between old and new buildings. The old building is clearly the determining element for the perception of the hotel from the outside. This is not only due to the exposed urban location of the house. The old building also stands for the tradition of the hotel and is a symbol for the history of Grindelwald and for tourism in the Bernese Oberland. In the area of the entrance and the reception, the somewhat lost grandeur of the grand hotel is to be revived. The theme of romantic mountain viewing, a major reason for the creation of the Belle Epoque Hotels in the Swiss Alps, was to be the key theme in all the different areas of the resort: from oil paintings in the entrance area and library to very large-scale applications on wallpaper in the rooms of the old building, as branding on wood in the rooms of the new buildings or in a very abstract representation in natural stone in the SPA area.
