Maritime design for a new hotel in Lucerne

Interior designer Andrin Schweizer developed an interior design concept for a 3-star superior hotel in Lucerne, which is being built in the Tribschen district of Lucerne. As part of an ideas competition, a design concept for the lobby, restaurant, and rooms had to be submitted. The defining theme here was boating on the lake, partly because a subsidiary of the Lake Lucerne Navigation Company will operate the hotel. The hotel design team therefore focused on symbols from the world of boating: boats, ships, oars, and water are shown in abstract form—with clever details that become visible at second glance. 

Individual hotel room design

This approach gives the hotel design a modern “Swissness” based on well-thought-out design and understatement: reflecting Swiss traditions without being overly obvious. The materials and furniture are durable and easy to maintain, and designed for use by many different guest groups; the hotel aims to welcome couples and families to Lucerne as well as tour groups and clubs. The result is a relatively inexpensive hotel design with a warm and lively, yet urban and original expression. The design by Andrin Schweizer and the interior designers on his team impresses with its authentic, individual design for a new hotel building in Central Switzerland.
