Nostalgia look for the Parkhotel
Founded in 1899 and constantly modernized - that is the history of the 4-star hotel in the Bernese Alps. The numerous renovations over the past decades have left behind a multi-layered mix of materials and styles that characterize the hotel's identity. The interior design was last reworked in the 1990s.
Andrin Schweizer and his team have now taken this evolved mix of styles as a creative basis and developed a concept for a new interior design - based on the principles of nostalgic design. The proposal combines tradition and modernity in a self-confident manner: In the restyling of the lobby, restaurant, rooms and suites, quotes from different stylistic eras merge into a coherent whole. The aim was to create rooms in which guests of all ages would recognize familiar elements at first glance - a subtle but effective emotional appeal to guests. To achieve this, structural elements were kept more traditional and combined with expressive furniture. As a result, the hotel management can easily adapt the furnishings to new requirements.
Hospitality design as success factor
The hotel interior design thus picks up on a central trend in the hospitality industry: Modernizations with high recognition value. Studies show that guests develop a stronger emotional bond with hotels when the design combines elements from the past with contemporary features. This not only increases satisfaction, but also booking figures. To achieve this, the experienced hotel design team also researches the local market and develops a design for broad groups of guests who still find few offers in the region.
The finished concept shows a targeted hotel modernization that can have an impact far beyond the Bernese Alps - throughout Switzerland, Europe and on an international scale.
