Hotel Ferienart Saas-Fee

Redesign for luxury hotel in Valais

The only 5-star hotel in Saas Fee was to be given a new authentic look – designed by an experienced team of hotel interior designers – and specifically appeal to a Swiss and international luxury clientele. In an invited competition, the initial focus was on redesigning the rooms. Andrin Schweizer and his team chose the rugged, impressive Valais mountains as the leading motif for their design.

Thanks to their many years of experience in residential and hotel design, they succeeded in staging natural materials in an elegant and timeless way. The rooms, in a modern, minimalist Alpine chic style, feature rustic paneling made of reclaimed wood, classic minimalist furniture, and textiles in warm natural tones. The design reflects the local mountain world in an abstract form – for example, as embroidered graphics on leather at the head of the beds. For the bathrooms, the experienced hotel designers chose a warm gray-brown natural stone, which appears as wall and bathtub cladding. The washbasins are custom-made from basalt – a rock typical of the area.

Hotel design as a means of communication

The redesign has to achieve much more than pure aesthetics here: the room design of the only five-star hotel in the Saas Valley must also be instantly recognizable in the virtual world as representing comprehensive, top-level service, a symbol of the hotel's luxury, so for example. The rooms were designed to immediately convey a luxurious atmosphere in pictures, while at the same time arousing curiosity about further details.

The thoughtful use of materials, the harmonious color scheme, and the clear design language make the new interior design for hotels a strong communicative element – both for guests on site and for the online presentation of the hotel.
