Bar Seidenhof Zurich

The interior design of the «Seidenhof» hotel has the locations' history as the central theme and brings the esthetics of the early 20th century back to the inside of the building. The inspiration for this design language comes from the facade, which shows stylistic elements between art nouveau and art déco – but sized down by some sort of Zwinglian reluctance. A mixture of fascination for nature on the one hand and the joy of opulence on the other – as it was typical for this period – is taken to every single hotel room in a reinterpreted way. For example, via the motifs of the wallpapers in the rooms, the graphics on the carpets, the shapes of the furniture, and the use of Viennese braid. And because it would have been anachronistic to use built-in furniture, the designers decide to place free-standing wardrobes in every room.
